High-Performance PMB Indian Standard
PMB Indian Standard (IS 15462:2019)
Bernet Bitumen produces high-quality Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) grades that conform to the Indian Standard IS 15462:2019 for polymer-enhanced paving binders.
These products are engineered for Indian climatic and traffic conditions, offering superior resistance to rutting, fatigue, and thermal cracking compared to conventional VG bitumen.
Each grade is carefully blended with premium SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) polymers to achieve optimal elasticity, cohesion, and long-term durability under India’s diverse temperature conditions.
Designed for Indian Climatic Conditions
PMB under IS 15462 is graded based on viscosity at 150°C, softening point, and elastic recovery, ensuring consistent performance from the tropical south to the colder northern regions.
These grades are ideal for highways, expressways, airports, and bridge decks that demand durability and flexibility under heavy loads.
Engineered for Strength & Flexibility
Comprehensive Range of PMB Indian Standard
Bernet Bitumen supplies all three PMB Indian Standard IS 15462 grades, meeting or exceeding the requirements for India’s national and regional infrastructure projects.
Bitumen PMB 40
Overview: A soft, flexible polymer-modified binder designed for cool or moderate climates and medium-traffic pavements.
Indicative properties: Viscosity at 150°C ≥200 Poise, softening point ≥60°C, elastic recovery ≥70%, and penetration 60–90 (0.1 mm). Provides superior flexibility and fatigue life.
Applications: Used in binder courses, surface dressing, and overlays where flexibility is required.
Standards: Complies with IS 15462:2019 (PMB 40) and IRC SP:53.
Bitumen PMB 70
Overview: A medium-viscosity grade suitable for warm climates and heavy traffic conditions, providing a balance between elasticity and rutting resistance.
Indicative properties: Viscosity at 150°C ≥300 Poise, softening point ≥65°C, elastic recovery ≥80%, and penetration 40–60 (0.1 mm). Excellent workability and temperature stability.
Applications: Ideal for highways, expressways, and dense bituminous macadam (DBM) and bituminous concrete (BC) layers.
Standards: Conforms to IS 15462:2019 (PMB 70) and IRC SP:53.
Bitumen PMB 120
Overview: A high-viscosity polymer-modified binder engineered for hot climates and heavy-duty pavements, offering superior rutting and fatigue resistance.
Indicative properties: Viscosity at 150°C ≥400 Poise, softening point ≥70°C, elastic recovery ≥85%, and penetration 30–50 (0.1 mm). Excellent resistance to deformation and oxidation.
Applications: Used in airfields, bridge decks, ports, and high-performance road surfaces exposed to high temperature and load.
Standards: Meets IS 15462:2019 (PMB 120) and IRC SP:53.
