High-Quality Bitumen for Efficient Road Construction

Medium Curing (MC) Bitumen

Bernet Bitumen manufactures and exports a complete range of Medium Curing (MC) Cutback Bitumen, developed for prime coats, tack coats, and cold-weather paving operations.
These binders are made by dissolving carefully refined bitumen in kerosene-type solvents, producing a fluid, easy-to-apply material that cures at a controlled rate as the solvent evaporates.
Each MC grade is formulated under ASTM D2026 / AASHTO M82, ensuring consistent viscosity, adhesion, and curing behavior for diverse climatic and project requirements.

Engineered for Versatile Pavement Performance

MC Cutback Bitumen offers reliable adhesion, flexibility, and durability across road construction and maintenance applications.
Because it requires no heating, it is ideal for remote areas, cold climates, or rapid maintenance works where hot bitumen handling is impractical.
All Bernet MC grades undergo strict quality testing by the Quality Control Department, ensuring compliance with international standards and project-specific needs.

Engineered for Coating & Paving

Comprehensive Range of Medium Curing (MC) Bitumen

Bernet produces five Medium Curing grades, MC-30, MC-70, MC-250, MC-800, and MC-3000, covering a full range of viscosities and curing speeds.

Bitumen MC-30

Overview: A low-viscosity, fast-curing cutback designed for prime coats and surface treatments in cool climates. Provides rapid penetration and adhesion to granular bases.
Indicative properties: Kinematic viscosity at 60°C: 30–60 cSt, Flash point: ≥38°C, Residue from distillation: ≥50%, Penetration of residue: ≥120 (0.1 mm).
Delivers quick setting and excellent coating on dusty surfaces.
Applications: Used for prime coats on granular bases, cold mix preparation, and maintenance patching.
Standards: Conforms to ASTM D2026 / AASHTO M82 (MC-30).

Bitumen MC-70

Overview: A medium-viscosity grade suitable for prime and tack coats where moderate curing speed is required. Ensures uniform penetration and surface bonding.
Indicative properties: Kinematic viscosity at 60°C: 70–140 cSt, Flash point: ≥38°C, Residue: ≥55%, Penetration of residue: 100–200 (0.1 mm).
Applications: Ideal for prime coating, tack coat, and cold-mix asphalt in moderate climates.
Standards: Meets ASTM D2026 / AASHTO M82 (MC-70).

Bitumen MC-250

Overview: A moderate-curing binder used where slower solvent evaporation and deeper penetration are needed. Ensures durable bonding between asphalt layers.
Indicative properties: Kinematic viscosity at 60°C: 250–500 cSt, Flash point: ≥60°C, Residue: ≥55%, Penetration of residue: 80–160 (0.1 mm).
Applications: Used for prime coats and tack coats in warm climates, as well as mix-in-place asphalt stabilization.
Standards: Conforms to ASTM D2026 / AASHTO M82 (MC-250).

Bitumen MC-800

Overview: A slow-curing, high-viscosity binder for mixing applications or where prolonged curing is beneficial. Provides durable, flexible bonding.
Indicative properties: Kinematic viscosity at 60°C: 800–1600 cSt, Flash point: ≥60°C, Residue: ≥55%, Penetration of residue: 60–120 (0.1 mm).
Applications: Used in premix surfacing, road mixing, and patch repair works requiring extended workability.
Standards: Meets ASTM D2026 / AASHTO M82 (MC-800).

Bitumen MC-3000

Overview: A very high-viscosity, slow-curing cutback designed for heavy-duty applications, offering strong bonding and long-term stability.
Indicative properties: Kinematic viscosity at 60°C: 3000–6000 cSt, Flash point: ≥66°C, Residue: ≥55%, Penetration of residue: 40–90 (0.1 mm).
Applications: Ideal for industrial pavements, patching, and surface dressing in tropical climates.
Standards: Complies with ASTM D2026 / AASHTO M82 (MC-3000).
