Shipping Terms Explained
EXW (Ex-Works)
Under EXW terms, the buyer arranges pickup directly from Bernet Bitumen’s facility.
The seller prepares the cargo for collection, while the buyer manages freight, insurance, and customs clearance.
This option offers maximum control and flexibility to buyers experienced in global logistics.
FCA (Free Carrier)
FCA terms mean Bernet Bitumen delivers the cargo to a nominated carrier or terminal selected by the buyer.
We handle all export documentation up to the handover point, ensuring the shipment is cleared and ready for onward transport.
FAS (Free Alongside Ship)
Under FAS terms, we deliver the goods alongside the vessel at the export port and complete all export preparations.
Responsibility transfers to the buyer once the cargo is positioned next to the ship, ready for loading.
FOB (Free On Board)
FOB terms are among the most common in international trade.
Bernet Bitumen delivers the goods onto the vessel and completes all export clearance procedures.
Once the cargo is loaded, responsibility transfers to the buyer, who manages ocean freight and insurance.
CFR (Cost and Freight)
CFR includes the cost of ocean freight to the destination port, arranged and paid by the seller.
The buyer assumes responsibility for the cargo once loaded on the vessel.
This option suits importers who prefer a freight-inclusive offer while managing insurance independently.
CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight)
CIF is similar to CFR but includes marine insurance arranged by the seller.
This term offers buyers additional protection during sea transit, making it a secure and convenient option for international shipments.
CPT (Carriage Paid To)
Under CPT, Bernet Bitumen pays the transportation cost to the agreed destination, while risk transfers to the buyer when the cargo is handed to the carrier.
It’s ideal for multimodal transport and long-distance shipments.
CIP (Carriage and Insurance Paid To)
CIP mirrors CPT but includes insurance coverage arranged by the seller.
This option is suited for buyers seeking added cargo protection during international transport.
DAT (Delivered at Terminal)
Under DAT terms, we deliver and unload the bitumen at a specified terminal at the destination port.
Responsibility transfers after unloading, giving the buyer a stress-free handover at arrival.
DAP (Delivered At Place)
DAP offers the most comprehensive service, delivery to a named place (warehouse, port, or project site).
